School Playgrounds and Parking Lots Often Need Extra Attention
You may have noticed extra people out directing traffic at your son’s school today.
It is a collaboration of parents and parent teacher organization members who want to maintain a safe drop off and pick up for all. It is not a personal attack on parents, nor is it meant to cause more stress, but it is an attempt to make sure that the line of cars move through as quickly as possible. After an influx of speeding, cars going the wrong way, and many impatient parents double parking, however, a concerned group of adults knew that something needed to be done. Kids can be impulsive, and it would take an organized group of parents to make sure that these impulsive kids are safe, even when they are not watching as carefully as they should have.
Now that the parking lot problems are under control, it is important to make sure that the playground gets some safety updates as well. With some newly raised funds, the group is now planning to update the border around the entire playground space, and work on earning more money for other upgrades in the future.
School Playgrounds and Parking Lots Often Benefit from Attention by Local Parent Groups
From playground borders to playground swing sets and other spaces around elementary schools to plastic tire swings in city parks, it is important to make sure that you are getting the best equipment and replacement parts that are available. Even as there are many teachers and administrators who are working on what is going on in the classroom, it is apparent that it is increasingly important to make sure that there are also improvements that are going on outside as well. In fact, nearly 66% of parents worry that their child spends too much time on electronic devices. One of the best ways to make sure that these electronic devices are put away is to entice your child to get outside and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air.
Even in a time when science, technology, engineering, and mathematics are important, it is interesting to note that 83% of parents questioned indicate that they think it is important their children learn to use technology, but 90% of them would prefer for their boys and girls to spend their childhood outdoors. For this reason, and many others, it seems like it is increasingly common that parent groups work to make playgrounds and parking lots safe.
