Tired and Achy? Your Mattress Could be to Blame
On average, we spend eight hours a night in our beds. However, many of us sleep on cheap mattresses that are causing us pain and fatigue. Do you feel refreshed when you wake up in the mornings? If not, your mattress could be to blame.
As many as 70 million adults in the United States have a sleep disorder. Approximately half of Americans say they don?t get enough sleep, yet do nothing to make their sleep better. Nearly half suffer from snoring, and in the past month, nearly 38% have fallen asleep during the day. Worse yet, nearly 5% have fallen asleep while driving.
An old, cheap mattress is likely the cause of these problems. While more than 90% of people believe in the importance of a comfortable mattress when it comes to a good night’s sleep, very few change their mattress as often as they should. Mattresses tend to last about seven years, but many people have slept on the same mattress they bought decades ago.
While this may be good for your pocketbook, it’s not as good for your health. As a mattress decreases in firmness, health problems tend to increase. Back and neck pain becomes more common, as do increased stress and lack of concentration. While most people don’t budget for a new mattress, you’ll definitely want to consider a new one if you constantly wake up feeling tired and achy. A firm, good-quality mattress will not make you feel like this.
How can you fix these health issues? Invest in a top foam mattress. A top foam mattress – also known as memory foam – is probably the best mattress for a bad back. Many of these are also double sided mattresses, which means you can flip them over and use the other side as well in order to maintain firmness. With double sided mattresses, you essentially get two mattresses for the price of one.
You spend one-third of your life sleeping. Make bedtime more comfortable and productive with a top foam mattress. You’ll feel more refreshed, see an improvement in your memory and maybe even lose weight. You’ll feel so good that you’ll never want to sleep on another mattress ever again.
